Adaline Bowmen . I just love that historic name that seems like its traveled to places. Blake Lively is an amazing actress ; she was great in Gossip girl, but even better at portraying this worldly Adaline character. It's a romantic , fantasy movie wrapped with a little edgy immortality trick that reminds me of Dracula and even The picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Adaline doesn't age , she's forever 29 ; she goes out of her way every 10 years or so to update her wardrobe , get a new passport , move town and makes sure that she does not form any emotional attachments with anybody so that she does not get caught and become made into a lab rat. However, the twist is that Adaline falls in love with this Ellis dude who is the son of a man Adaline met and was friends with a long time ago. This is where it gets a little tricky ; the dad finds out who she is (turns out Jenny is Adaline) and she run away because she is scared of what might happen to her and that she might loose her daughter because her secret it out. On the way to wherever she was headed she crashed like she did the first time and you know lightening and water together actually reversed the aging process and she lived happily ever after with Ellis and it must have been so awkward for her daughter to have a step father that was 40 years younger than her.
Overall I would say that it was a very enjoyable film and it made me realize even more how much I adore Blake Lively as an actress because she can basically play any character ranging from a teenager to a 108 year old women who has so much wisdom yet is 29 years old. She makes you believe that she has lived for ages. It was not the best film that I have ever watched , but it was still a good film nonetheless. The voice over just made it feel a little creepy and a bit of a sleepy film . If you are into films like The notebook then you should definitely watch this.
